Holy buckets! I have not blogged for so long. The break was honestly nice, but it's time to get caught up and back on track. I do this for us, for Aubri. It's great having the memories and pictures in a book that we can grab and flip through anytime.
It's been a crazy close of spring and now end to summer. The months May through September have flown by so quickly this year it's hard to wrap my head around. We have had so much stuff go on since spring. So much that that's the reason I took the break...there was zero time to work on pictures and blog with everything else happening.
Our family has been busy with foster care this year and we had the opportunity to care for some amazing little kiddos. It's pretty cool how God orchestrates the placement of children in and out of our lives at the right time. We have been truly blessed by the sweet little faces around here and it's been a pleasure caring for them in their time of need. I am so thankful for the privilege to have met them and been part of their lives even for a moment.
In short, James joined our team in February, Emily left at the end of February to go be with another family, James moved with his Grandma & Grandpa in March, and Maliya moved in with us in March. Wow!
Busy, busy, busy, then just plain ugly & sad. My father-in-law, Sam, had some episodes of passing out and finally went to the ER, where they kept him overnight, ran multiple tests, and left him with news that none of us expected...Acute Leukemia. To make it worse, he had the worst kind of Acute Leukemia you could have and the doctor gave him 6 to 8 weeks of quality living remaining.
Shocking...
Heart Breaking...
Miserable...
Unbelievable...
Anger...
Sadness...
were just a few emotions we were feeling about now.
So, what are you supposed to do with all of that? One of two things...mope around in a depression or take advantage of the time that's left and enjoy every single second of it!
We chose the second option and didn't waste anytime getting started. We held music jams at our house with friends then we took a trip to Lake of the Ozarks!

Lake of the Ozarks
With Trace's persistence and determination, we got packed and loaded and headed south for a weekend in the Ozarks. It is a place they would go as a family when Trace was a youngster and he holds fond memories of his time there with his dad and mom and sister.
It was the perfect choice for a quick fun-filled getaway all together!
We rented an amazing condo overlooking the river and it was top notch!

It was awesome that we got to bring Trevor along with us too! His parents are so great about letting him join us, even last minute trips where he has to miss school.

We were neck in neck for awhile then they pulled away from us. I guess there's a trick to driving these things and making them go fast. Keeping the pedal to the metal the entire time wasn't the ticket.

The weather was perfect! We grilled and spent time on the patio visiting.
Conversations were precious.
This little girl had had enough! She fell asleep on Daddy waiting for Joan and I to return from a shopping excursion to go swimming.
We made it!
The trip was PERFECT, we will forever treasure it.
