Run Like The Wind...

This post is completely, 100% about Daddy!  Today was the Des Moines Marathon and Trace ran the half marathon, 13.1 miles!  All I can say is Wow...You are the Bomb!  Trace has been diligent in training for this since July.  He was determined to do and complete the half marathon as a self goal for himself.  His anniversary date of his stem cell transplant was just a couple of months ago in August, and it's rare for people to be fully recovered, working, and exercising like he does, let alone running 13 miles.

In addition to this being a big run for him, the past two weeks he has been fighting sickness and participating in rifle school for work, which has caused him to get significantly less sleep...roughly 5 to 6 hours a night, one night only 2 due to a swat call-out!  He is so strong physically and mentally, it blows me away.  He is one tough cookie!

It was awesome to be a part of it today with him as a spectator, I enjoyed every bit of it, even the 5:30 morning and freezing cold weather!  It was way worth it to watch my husband come across the finish line.  What an accomplishment.  Way to go babe, you inspire me!  I am so proud of you and love you with my whole heart.

His friends, Dave, Matt & Chris came from Storm Lake to run too!  He worked with Dave & Chris.
Start Line!  The race began at 8:00 a.m.
Some of these pictures are just of the many people there.  By 8:00 a.m., all you saw was people all around for as far as you could see.  It was quite a site!

Trace & the guys visiting lined up, waiting for the race to start!
Having a pack of Gu Energy Gel
 It's almost starting time!
 And...they're movin!
There were somethin like 7,700 runners.
Bye Babe...see ya at the finish line!
 And they're off!
2 1/2 hours later, he's bringin it home...to the Finish Line!  Go Baby, you're awesome!!
Accomplishment!!  You're the Man.
